With the collapse of the Eastern bloc, the photo agency Ostkreuz was founded in Berlin. Following its foundation by seven East German photographers, an astonishing success story began, acquiring clients including magazines such as Newsweek, Stern, GEO or the New York Times.
Ostkreuz is no longer an East Berlin photo agency. It now has 20 members, who form artistically, personally and biographically a diverse group of European explorers. All have different ways of working, but one thing unites them: their humanistic view of the world.
Ostkreuz stands for socially committed documentary photography: photography as attitude and passion.
