Charlie is a vagabond violinist who makes a living from his music. He falls in love with a young girl who has been kidnapped by gypsies. Edna, who lives in squalor in a gypsy caravan, is chosen as a model by a passing painter. The painting is exhibited, and her very rich mother recognises the daughter she has lost for years. Will Edna choose love or the hushed comfort of her native environment?
